Owner of Grandale Farm LLC
The owner of Grandale Farm LLC has been a resident of Loudoun County since
1951 when his family moved to the country from the Washington suburbs to
reestablish the Orme family in the area of its heritage.
There were serious
interruptions in continuity with education at the Hill School, Pottstown, PA,
travel to England for a year at Tonbridge School in 1959, Harvard College
AB 64, University of Southern California, Ph.D. (medical microbiology 1968),
and Max Planck Institute for Cell Chemistry, Munich, Germany (1968-71). Thomas
worked with the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda and the New York Blood
Center, Huntington, Long Island until returning to Loudoun where he has been
farming since 1988.
His interests are science and math for secondary school
extracurricular activities. He also has a strong interest in German literature
and Romance languages, digital photography, and illustrated word processing.
Thomas attended Hillsboro Elementary School and Loudoun County High School.
The Thomas and Evelyn Orme Learning Center, a non-profit subsidiary of Grandale
Farm LLC, is the owner's focal project, named in honor of his parents. One of
its first endeavors is "Country Cooking for Kids."
